Key accomplishments and milestones:-
1987: Insight Electronics Corp. moves to Nelson BC. GM Canada sources the company as their exclusive aftermarket Daytime Running Lamp (DRL) supplier.
1989: Insight incorporates as Pacific Insight Electronics Corp.(PI) and begins trading on the Vancouver Stock Exchange (VSE) - PIH.
1989: Western Star Trucks and Volvo-GM Heavy Truck Corp select PI as their exclusive DRL module supplier.
1990: GM awards PI with an exclusive contract to supply the “Twilight Sentinel” automatic headlamp system and “Goodwrench” vehicle security system.
1991: PI forms strategic partnership with Peterson Manufacturing focusing on designing leading edge LED lamp assemblies.
1992: Western Star Trucks selects PI to re-design and supply several control modules for its Canadian Military “LSVW” contract.
1994: PI designs and supplies Body Control Electronic modules to major Class 8 OEMs.
1995: PI earns 1st GM Supplier of the Year Award.
1996: PI named GM Supplier of the Year. PI achieves QS9000 certification.
1997: PI named GM Supplier of the Year. New instrument contract awarded by Paccar Inc.
1998: PI named GM Supplier of the Year. Ford Motor Company selects PI DRL modules for use on 7 of its major car platforms. PI is elevated to a senior board posting on the Vancouver Stock Exchange (VSE).
1999: PI named GM Supplier of the Year. GM chooses PI’s DRLs for use on its full size “G” Van programs. Western Star Trucks (Freightliner) awards PI its instrumentation and databus conversion module business.
2001: PI moves into a new state of the art 70,000 sq. ft. plant in Nelson, BC. PI announces strategic relationship with Alcoa Fujikura (AFL) aimed at system integrating PI electronics and AFL’s EDS products. Ford purchases its “Belt-Minder” chime system from PI for 7 vehicle programs. Pacific Insight graduates to a Toronto Stock Exchange listing (TSE).
2001: Ford awards Q1 certification to PI. Blue Bird Bus selects PI instrumentation for its North American product line-up. Ford selects PI to supply a LED lighting control module for its Navigator and Aviator programs.
2002: PI forms strategic relationship with Meritor WABCO focusing on designing PLC control electronic modules. Caterpillar chooses PI for its instrumentation re-freshing initiative for its off-road vehicle production. Ford awards an MSCAN to ACP gateway module to PI for the Hybrid Escape vehicle program.
2003: PI earns ISO 14001 certification. PI and Peterson Manufacturing jointly register a patent for their 360 LED strobe warning lamp. Ford awards its heated seat module to PI for several vehicle programs.
2004: Paccar Inc. selects PI to design and supply its front body control electronic module for the NBI program. Autocar LLC chooses PI as its exclusive instrumentation supplier. Caterpillar selects PI to design and supply scalable lighting control module systems.
2005: PI and Peterson Manufacturing jointly design, manufacture and launch North America’s first LED Stop/Turn/Tail marine & utility lamp. Meritor WABCO and PI develop new PLC messgae centre display product.
2006: PI and Peterson launch new trailer connection module and unique rear sealing J-560 trailer connector system.
2007: PI forms a partnership with CML-IT to develop and market advanced lighting technologies for the automotive market.
2008: PI launches its new 5” multiplexed Datastep instruments featuring multi-function gauges with embedded message centre display. Vehicle trials featuring PI’s proprietary ambient lighting system technology increase and garner more OEM interest and demand.
2009: Ford sources PI additional tier 1 full service supplier business for convenience electronics to be featured on the MY 2011 Lincoln MKX and Export Explorer vehicles.
